Bad Check Restitution Program The Check Deception Program has been renamed the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office Bad Check Restitution Program. No tax dollars are required to operate this program; merchants receive 100% of the restitution recovered by the program; and participants are required to complete a special intervention class in addition to paying restitution. We see this program as a cooperative effort between the Prosecutor’s Office and local merchants to combat the problem of bad checks being passed to local businesses.
