NATIONAL CRIME VICTIMS’ RIGHTS WEEK

Evansville, IN – April 6-12, 2025, is National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW), and several agencies in Southern Indiana have joined together to execute the National Crime Victims’ Rights Week Community Awareness Project grant which was awarded by the National Association of VOCA Assistance Administrators, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. Since 1981, NCVRW has challenged the nation to confront and remove barriers to achieving justice for all victims of crime. The 2025 theme is Kinship, Connecting, and Healing. Kinship is a call to action to recognize that shared humanity should be at the center of supporting all survivors and victims of crime. Kinship is where victim advocacy begins.

Each year, this community promotes NCVRW by offering resources to victims of crime and hosting awareness events. The 2025 project is led by the YWCA of Evansville with support from the Southwestern Indiana Regional Coalition Against Trafficking (SIRCAT), Holly’s House, Parenting Time Center, Albion Fellows Bacon Center, Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, and Gibson County Prosecutor’s Offices, Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, and Gibson County Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), Lampion Center, Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Evansville Police Department, Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, and Willow Tree of Posey County.

There will be a table of resources for crime victims in the Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, and Gibson County Courthouses April 6-12, 2025. If you are a victim of a crime, please visit vccvr.org and dial 911 for emergencies.
